The Baking Bird, Truro

Would you look at that... a cupcake lover's paradise! If you ever find yourself in Truro and craving an indulgent sweet treat, there's really only one place to go: The Baking Bird!

Hidden down the side roads away from the hustle and bustle of Truro, The Baking Bird is set in a beautifully converted and airy building from 1836, with a ground floor of wooden tables and chairs, and an upstairs filled with traditional beams and cosy sofas. With cute and colourful decor and bunting galore, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing chat with friends over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

As well as rows upon rows of different decadent cupcakes, The Baking Bird also offers an impressive variety of cakes and sweet treats, from chocolate brownies to lemon and lime cheesecake. With my massive sweet tooth, my eyes were immediately drawn to the Oreo cheesecake, particularly after seeing photo upon photo of tempting Oreo cheesecake recipes on Pinterest. It's safe to say you won't leave hungry after a visit to The Baking Bird, the generous slice would have happily been enough for two!

Suffering from eyes bigger than my belly, it was quite a challenge to finish my cheesecake, but I'm not one to give up that easily! Perhaps I would have preferred more biscuit base and less cream cheese, as it was very sweet and a bit sickly after a while, as would be expected from a cheesecake stuffed with Oreo, but yummy nonetheless! I couldn't leave The Baking Bird without one of their trademark cupcakes, so took a banoffee cupcake home with me. Although a little dry, the swirl of caramel in the middle was as delicious as the cupcake looked!
Overall, my cheesecake cost £3.50, whilst the cupcake was £2.00, but you definitely get your money's worth! So, if you're looking for an indulgent treat of huge proportion in a cute and cosy environment, then The Baking Bird is definitely worth a visit!

Where's your favourite place to go for a yummy sweet treat?

Love, Beth xxx

    1. Aw that's a shame! We're spoilt for choice when it comes to good food in Cornwall! I'm going to have to go on a hunt for good bakeries and cafes when I move back to Surrey xxx
