The Old Grammar School, Truro

Sunny weather means al fresco dining! Is this hot and sunny weather making anyone else crave a holiday abroad? Al fresco dining isn't that common in England aside from the typical pub garden (thanks a lot, rain), so I was all over the opportunity to have lunch in the open air! Tucked away down a narrow side street in Truro, The Old Grammar School is the perfect little spot for a relaxed lunch with a huge variety of exciting and unique homemade food. I visited The Old Grammar School last year for a friend's birthday where we were served an enormous delicious tapas meal, so I was looking forward to trying out their lunch menu!

It's safe to say we were spoilt for choice! And this is just their lunch menu alone. The Old Grammar School serves lunch from 12pm to 3pm, whilst tapas is served in the evening (you can find the tapas menu here). But first drinks! There's a huge range of soft drinks available, as well as wine and cocktails for those fancying a little tipple. I decided to go for a summer berry and vanilla mocktail; sweet and refreshing with a slight tang, perfect for a sunny day!
For food my eye was, as usual, drawn to the pulled pork ciabatta (just can't have enough pulled pork!), though I've recently developed a slight obsession with goats cheese, so decided to go for the vegetable stack of squash, courgette and red pepper with a huge chunk of grilled goats cheese and pesto in focaccia, topped with rocket drizzled with olive oil and served with a flower pot of chips on the side.

A colourful culinary masterpiece! And it tasted just as delicious as it looked, with the sweetness of the vegetables blending perfectly with the creamy cheese and herb pesto, all topped off with the beautifully soft focaccia. And, of course, the chips were delicious and crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. It was a bit of a challenge to finish it all, but I couldn't let such a yummy lunch go to waste!

Overall, my drink cost just under £4 whilst the vegetable stack cost £7.95. A reasonable price in my opinion considering the huge portion size! So, if you're looking for a huge variety of exciting food, from burgers to Sunday roasts to tapas, or maybe just some delicious cocktails, then pay a little visit to The Old Grammar School!
