Kynance Cove, Cornwall

I have always had a fascination with fog, watching in wonder as everything is shrouded with a translucent blanket. Familiar places are transformed into new mysterious environments, with only faint outlines of odd shapes visible in the distance. Kynance Cove in Cornwall is often pictured in glorious sunshine beating down on the near-white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. So when we decided to visit the much talked about landmark the other day whilst a huge curtain of fog hid most of the Cornish coast, the view was a little bit different. However, there are some places that are truly magical no matter what the weather, and Kynance Cove is undoubtedly one of them.

Before we started our walk down to the cove, we passed a wooden bench with some interesting hand-carved detailing.
We followed a winding path and descended into the fog...
Through the fog we could just make out the shapes of rocks alongside the faint glimmer of the sea, hearing the calming sound of waves gradually washing in.
Through a gap in the rocks that wouldn't look out of place in The Lord of the Rings stood the quaint Kynance Cove Cafe looking out to sea.
With the beach near deserted, it was beautifully calm and peaceful, with the fog creating a soft dream-like atmosphere.

I was quite tempted to dip my feet... perhaps I'll save that for a sunnier day!

Does anyone else have a thing for paw prints in sand? Adorable.
At every turn we were greeted with rock formations perfectly framing a beautiful view. It's almost as if nature wants a good photo taken of it!
Everything was placed so beautifully it was almost as if we'd stepped into a painting.
We clambered over some rocks and came upon this peaceful secluded pool with beautifully clear turquoise water. The perfect place for a mermaid to perch.

One step closer to fulfilling my childhood dream of being a mermaid...
I could have spent hours climbing and scrambling up and down the rocks, but with the tide steadily moving in it was unfortunately time to head back. But not before some grub first to calm our rumbley tums! Up the hill we went to the Kynance Cove Cafe, where I filled myself up with a well deserved cajun chicken, tomato and lettuce baguette.
Not a bad lunch time view...
As we left the fog cleared and we could finally get a full view of Kynance Cove. Come fog or sun, it without a doubt joins my long list of favourite places in Cornwall.

Have you ever been to Kynance Cove?

Love, Beth xxx
